This pandemic has truly put our world in a frenzy, but we need not fear. Let’s be reminded of some of the great things our God has told us:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:6-7
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” ~ 2 Timothy 1:7
“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.” ~ Psalm 55:22
On March 25th the Sedgwick County Health has issues a Stay at Home Order to help mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Also prohibiting gatherings of 10 or more. We are not speaking out of fear in our upcoming changes, but trying to calm fears and make our Sunday services at church as safe as possible. Although we will not be able to gather in our building we will be gathering online and we have expanded our service times to 8a, 930a, 11a, 4p, 7p.
We also need to remember that the “CHURCH” is made up of the people of God, it is not the buildings with God’s name on them. In that understanding we want you to know that we will NEVER cancel church (worship services) but we will be going online with our services. We are thankful for our Creative Arts team and what they have put in place for us to be able to have service online with high quality.
Boxes of Hope is a tangible way for us to stretch out a hand to those that are affected either through illness, quarantine, or just the uncertainty of this time. The world all around us may change, but God’s love remains the same, and this is the hope that we have to share.
Are you in need of hope? Maybe you’ve contracted COVID-19, or perhaps you are quarantined, caring for yourself or a loved one.
Do you want to serve your local community by sending a Box of Hope to those in need? Help Riverlawn Christian Church deliver Boxes of Hope and spread the Gospel!
Join us for weekend services online on the Riverlawn app on your Apple TV, Roku, smartphone, or tablet. For a great interactive experience with chat, prayer request options etc, check out our new platform at online.riverlawn.org.
We stream live at 8a, 9:30a, 11a, 4p, and 7p on Sundays
Small groups are still meeting via zoom video conferencing. We have trained our small group leaders with multiple tools to remain in contact with their group and to continue lifting each other up especially during this time of uncertainty.
Eli Bayless, our Youth Pastor is working hard to help families navigate this season we are in. There is a parent email that is sent out every Sunday afternoon that gives some encouragement, and ideas on how to approach this extra time you have. Also, the Zoom links are uploaded onto that email each week. Parents of any age student are encouraged to sign up to receive these resources, and can do so by clicking the link on the student page! Also, if you would like to receive texts we send out, text the word PARENTS to 43506.
High Schoolers – Every Sunday night, we meet on Zoom for The Gathering. It is for any student grades 9-12, and starts at 5:30pm. If you want to be part of our text group, text RCCHS to 43506.
Middle Schoolers – Every Wednesday night, we meet on Zoom for Crash. This is for any student grades 6-8, and starts at 6:30pm. If you want to be part of the text group, text RCCMS to 43506.
Eli will be using these forms of communication to alert teens and parents of that weeks schedule.
We are streaming Kids Church during our 930a and 11a service times on Sunday’s. You can go to riverlawn.online.church, to view the service! We have links posted also at riverlawn.org. The Monday following that service we will be posting the video for families that want to view it and have their own service at home during the week.
Kurt and Devin are regularly posting family challenges on our social media pages for families to find unity, fun, and a creative outlet during this time.
There’s no denying that NOW is the time to find ourselves on our knees in prayer. Jeff Isaacs our Lead pastor is hosting evening prayer time on Facebook live at 8pm (Central). For anyone that wants to be alerted simply “Like” our Facebook page and you will get notified anytime that Riverlawn goes live.
Last but not least; SHARE JESUS! Use this trying time in our lives to share the hope of Christ. Tell others how you make it through tough things in life. Invite your friends, neighbors and co-workers to join you to watch our online services, especially if they are experiencing anxiety. Point people to our www.NOWWHAT.LOVE website to find out more about Jesus. Pray for lives to be transformed by the amazing power of our God!
