Use the following prompts to Dig Deeper into this Scripture

Scripture: Luke 2:10-14 “And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

Observation: The Good News of Jesus coming to earth is the type of Good News that is truly worth singing about! As frightened as the shepherds understandably were when they saw such an incredible heavenly display, their fear could be put to rest because of just how joyous the news of Jesus’ arrival was. This was the promised Messiah, the king who would come and free his people for eternity! His entry was as humble as it could possibly be, and in His birth God showed us that for our salvation, we wouldn’t have to make our way to Him, He would come to us! Praise God, with all of heaven and earth, that Jesus has come to save us!

Application: When you think of this scene and the significance of this season, what is your honest first reaction? Is it fear, because of the amazing Glory of the angels display? Is it Joy and Praise; that you almost can’t keep from singing or praising because of such a good gift? Or hopefully there is a degree of peace, because we remember that we don’t have to work our way to God for salvation because He did the work for us. Take a look into your own heart and think about what your response to this moment means for you. Today, put on some Worship Music and join in with all of the heavens and the earth in still praising the God who came and saved us!

Prayer: Pray that the Holy Spirit would open up your eyes this Christmas season to really consider how beautiful and valuable the gift of Jesus really is for you and I. Spend time praising God in your prayers and telling him how good He is and how grateful for Him you are.
